Essential Oils And Allergies

Posted on Sunday 18 July 2010

Allergies can easily happen to anyone with out warning. A lot of people go see the doctor because they don’t know they are having an allergic reaction. Allergy reactions can be headaches, stuffy noses, sore throats, etc. Allergies are often mistaken for colds. They are a real pain, especially when they are accompanied with several different types of symptoms.

Thankfully there are ways to relieve such symptoms. With the help of therapeutic grade essential oils, allergy symptoms can be helped. Here are a few natural ways you can get relief.

Essential oils are handy because they can help relieve the discomfort associated with allergies. Lavender oil is a great option. Lavender is a natural antihistamine. There are several different ways to use lavender oil, such as applying it directly to the skin or using it in a diffuser.

Eucalyptus Oil – This product is popular for people who suffer from sinus or ear congestion. Eucalyptus oil is used in a diffuser, though it can also be used in other ways. The Eucalyptus Radiata is the best type of Eucalyptus oil on the market right now.

You can also try including and excluding things in your diet. Limit the amount of sugar in your diet, as well as dairy and tomatoes or peppers. Include natural ingredients of ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom to help clear up phlegm and mucus.

Herbal remedies can help as well. There are herbalists that can make a custom tea to minimize your allergic reactions. Herbs don’t have the quick results that other medicine does, but because they work slower they are more safe for your body. They don’t have the same side effects that pharmaceutical antihistamines have.

There is a blend of essential oils, known as RC, that can help relieve allergies. It is also handy to clear coughs, bronchitis, colds, and sore throats. The RC blend is made up of eucalyptus, pine, marjoram, cypress, myrtle, spruce, lavender, and peppermint oils.

Irrigation is another option. A neti pot can be used to wash out the mucus membrane so it can get rid of mucus or pollen that is stuck in there. When using it, however, be sure to have a very mild saline solution so your infection doesn’t get aggravated further.
