Description of Herbal Water Witch Hazel Witch Hazel Herbal Water is a hydrosol from a large perennial shrub. Interestingly, during the distillation process an essential oil is not produced. The distillate, or hydrosol, which is produced, is an aromatic water know as Witch Hazel. It is a product of the distillation process and can be described as being a 100% pure and natural distillate. Its scent is light, woody and herbaceous. Our Witch Hazel is processed in acccordance with the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), which requires 14.0 - 15.0% alcohol (ethanol) to be added to the herbal water for the purpose of providing its astringent properties. Witch Hazel is more astringent than Floral Waters and is particularly suitable for sallow or tired skin.
