Instructions for the use of Melt & Pour SoapTo use Melt and Pour Soap
simply melt the soap base in the top of a double boiler over a low heat (never allow the soap to exceed 65°C (149 degrees fahrenheit). This may take up to 30 minutes depending on the amount of soap used. However, don't increase the temperature to speed up the melting process as this will result in a less effective soap.
When the soap has melted add your coloring (food coloring is fine) a drop at a time, stirring well, until the soap base is the color you desire. Allow the soap to cool slightly (131 to 141 degrees fahrenheit) and add your essential oil
up to 1% (1mL or approx.
20 drops in 100g, 3 1/2oz of soap base) or candle/soap soluble fragrance oil up to 0.1% (0.1mL or approx 2 drops in 100g, 3 1/2oz of soap base). Stir well.
If there are a lot of bubbles in your soap, allow to sit for a few minutes before slowly pouring into molds. Leave the soaps to set in the molds.
You can create a blend of essential oil
s to suit your needs by selecting 2 or 3 different essential oil
s. Please ensure that the total number of drops does not exceed the dilution ratio.Note:
We do not recommend that you melt this product in a microwave. Also, essential oil
s and Fragrance Oils may change the color of your soap. We recommend you do a small trial first.Storage:
Once you have made your soap and it has set, you may find that it "sweats", when you leave it exposed to air or in a container that has an air space. Glycerine is a humectant, which means it attracts moisture, even from the air. To avoid this simply wrap your soaps in plastic, or store in some sort of air tight container.
