The use of natural essential oils for healing has been around for centuries. Individuals from the Stone Age even used natural essential oils. There is evidence that they used natural essential oils in a French cave through an illustration.

Even the Egyptians used essential oils. They are most popular for their mummies, which they used essential oils on to preserve their dead. They also used the oils in their rituals and medicines. Pharaohs of Egypt used essential oils to trade with for things like slaves and treasures.

The Romans used specifically lavender in their public bathes. They would even receive massages after bathing using essential oils. In their political and temples buildings they used essential oils to establish a feeling of peace and tranquility.

Essential oils were even used in China. The Chinese used the oils for healing illnesses. The first medical book in China was “Yellow Emperor’s Private Manual”, which listed the effects of essential oils.

In 1897 the applications of essential oils became more effective. Various concoctions of essential oils and extracts were experimented together by a French pharmacist. The newly invented burner head and oil concoctions invented diffusing oils. This made the application of essential oils more effective.

In 1928 the French botanist Rene-Maurine Gatteforril experimented with several essential oils. He wrote down specific healing capabilities of various essential oils in books. These books also contain how to properly apply the oils to disinfect, sterilize, kill viruses, and reduce inflammation.

In 1964 Doctor Jean Valent discovered that essential oils could help cell regeneration and sterilization. With the encouragement of Doctor Valent, essential oils were being used as disinfectants and sterilizers before World War II. The oils were also used to fumigate the hospitals and to sterilize surgical and dental tools.

In modern days a lot of people are spectacle about aromatherapy because the FDA has not approved it and because a lot of research has not been done on it. Mr. Huang Shu Li, the chairman of Bel’Air, researches with science to validate the healing properties of aromatherapy. Bel’Air has combined with the National Yang Ming University in Taiwan to confirm the effectiveness and safety of essential oils. Even though essential oils have been used for centuries, people still want medical proof that they work.
