Aromatherapy Uses for Physical Well Being

Using essential oils and other helpful compounds extracted from plants and flowers is known as aromatherapy. Oils and chemicals can be harvested from plants by one of several extraction methods, these methods can be used to get a wide variety of different compounds. Active organic compounds can either be used alone in with other compounds.

Chiropractors and in expanding numbers medical professionals then utilize the oil for any number of benefits including mood enhancement and antibacterial effects. Essential chemicals can be applied many ways determined by the particular aromatherapy needs. Commonly used plants utilized for aromatherapy include lavender, rose, peppermint, and bergamot.

Aromatherapy uses the byproducts of flowers for health and other uses. There are a number of types of materials removed from herbs in addition to natural herbal chemicals including absolutes, phytoncides, herbal distillates, infusions, and carrier chemicals. Essential chemicals are commonly removed by the method of steam distillation although can be used to describe chemicals created from solvent extraction.

Watery solutions that are a result from the distillation process are know as infusions. Carrier oils are harvested from organic sources and are often helpful for reducing the potency of oils for topical application. Oils that are removed by the process of chemical extraction are sometimes called absolutes. Organic distillates are a byproduct of the essential oil extraction process. Phytoncides are extremely potent compounds, there is currently research exploring their effectiveness in fighting germs and bacteria.

Aromatherapy has many functions. It has for a long time been used by chiropractors as a means to promote relaxation. Lately there has been more interest in the medical functions of aromatherapy.

Health professionals, especially overseas, are having success with essential compounds in clinical settings. France especially, where many medicinal aromatherapy successes have been achieved, has made extensive utilization of the treatment.

There is laboratory proof for efficiency in a number of areas including as an antibacterial, antiviral, anti fungal, anti inflammatory, and antispasmodic. There are a few methods for utilization of herbal oils for effective use; aerial diffusion, direct inhalation, and on the skin.
